Bio
My name is Michael Galo, and I use a camera some of the time, a keyboard most of the time and dice with whatever time is left.
I’m a Full Stack Web Developer career changer who used to work for many years in Photography Production, Marketing & Communications for Non-Profits. Now I write code, solve problems and continue to write for a living — just in a different language (or several), ha. I’ve been fortunate to have a great many accomplishments I’m proud of in my career, but none of them hold a candle to the fact that I’m also a devoted and lucky husband. My wife and I love being home-bodys, creating & being with our friends — especially on D&D nights. We live a humble, quiet life. After my time in marketing, brand management and staying “algorithmically relevant”, I can tell you that a quiet life is so much more fulfilling.
My photography has been featured by TwentyFour, Poler Stuff, Instagram, OKDOTHIS, Picastock, and also among others. I’ve won various contests such as the 5x5 Franklin Photo Contest and Joby Inc Mobile Photo Contest, as well as worked in product advertising with clients such as Salemtown Board Co, Arvo Wear, Krochet Kids Intl. & The Well Coffeehouse. I’ve also worked as a contributor to Picsastock, iStock and PhotoDune.
One of my greatest passions is to travel, either for business or leisure. I have been fortunate enough to photograph so far in the following countries: England, Saba, St. Maarten, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Vatican City, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Hungary, Spain, Malta, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Slovakia, Australia, Chile, Peru, Ireland, Scotland and Costa Rica. Next up is Iceland in 2025.
On the weekends you can catch me shooting analog film cameras with my do not disturb on or scribbling away at a long-term novel.
